Equality at Colleges and Universities

Title III of the ADA covers the "goods and services" of private colleges and universities. Title II of the ADA, qualified individuals with disabilities may not be excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of the services, programs or activities of, nor receive discrimination from, private universities and colleges.

Colleges and universities are utilizing technologies more and more often as integral components of instruction. This 2010 letter from the US Dept. of Justice Civil Rights Division clearly explains the key issues relative to one specific type of device- an "e-reader" called the Kindle. Check out the letter at:
